Pedro Canales // Chancha Vía Circuito: “People usually can’t resist to move and dance”
Who are you? (How did the band get together / when did you start, what is your musical background?)
I’m Chancha Via Circuito. The project started as a solist project in 2006, but Federico Estevez (percussionist) joined the project in 2014, and Heidi Lewandowski (Singer, flutes and synths) in 2015. We are going to perform there as full band.
Our musical background is very diverse, but our roots and heart are in South America.
What type of music do you play – genre, expression, mood?
We play a mix between latin, south american folk and electronic music.
What was your first musical experience?
When I was twelve we had a band with schoolmates and played in our primary school.
What are your sources of inspiration – other bands, people, experiences?
Travels especially, jungle, nature. Bands like Dead Can Dance, Luzmila Carpio, Urubamba, Deadbeat, Cumbia, Folklore, etc.
What is your ambition playing at SPOT?
Make the audience dancing like crazy.
Have you ever played abroad? – If yes, where and how was it different?
Yes, many times. All around the globe. Always is pretty similar, people usually can´t resist to move, to dance.
What is your dream as a musician?
I´ve already made my dream come true, and it was work only as a musician.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned so far?
Nothing has sense if one doesn’t discover god inside of us.
Where do see yourself in five years?
Living in the middle of nowhere, rounded by mountains and nature.
