Who are you? (How did the band get together / when did you start, what is your musical background?)

We (DBC) are an electronic trio. We have gone from Nuuk’s underground scene to being one of the most popular live acts in Greenland. DBC was founded in 2012 by Hans-Ole over time Kasper (synth + guitar) and Ove (perc) joined. The education as an event technician has given a background of sound and MIDI technology, which now provides the basis for the work with DBC.

What type of music do you play – genre, expression, mood?

We have created a brand-new platform in Greenland with electro house, hip hop and ambient as our starting point.

The live set is controlled via ableton, analogue synthesizers, electronic drums and an electric guitar.

What was your first musical experience?

Since we have no release on the market yet, our live videos are streamed in great style, e.g. the song “DBC” has been watched more than 120,000 times on YouTube.

What are your sources of inspiration – other bands, people, experiences?

The music is inspired by Daft Punk, Puppetmastaz, Portishead and Greenlandic colleagues like Mariina and Ole Kristiansen.

What is your ambition playing at SPOT?

Since we have never played outside of Greenland, we are looking forward to playing at the SPOT festival and hoping to get more followers and a bigger network.

What is your dream as a musician?

Our dream as musicians is to be able to make a living by creating unique music. We want to create art that touches people’s minds and souls in many different ways. We want to show that there is more music to be found ‘elsewhere’ in the world.

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned so far?

The most valuable lesson we’ve learned so far is that you got to have determination and have grit to make something happen and to stick to. It is important to follow your dreams and not to yield or give up in the process.

Where do see yourself in five years?

We strive to be bigger and develop more as artists over the next five years. We want to continue to grow and play more shows if we’re given an opportunity. Hopefully, we’ll have more exposure with our music in the future.
